New Page added: Protest

I have created a page collecting up the prints I have made in protest. Save Library to act as a banner or poster to alert the community about the threat of demolition of a locally loved building and resource. Help was in response to the dilemma of exploited refugees in unseaworthy boats. Winds of Change to represent the widespread feelings about politics in Britain in 2019. Childcare as an expression of my anxiety about the impact of pollution and to a lesser degree modern technology on today’s children.

2 New Prints added to Latest page

The Childcare print is my attempt to protest about the pollution that is significantly damaging the health of the world’s children. Please go to Latest page for details by clicking here. The London Bridge Station print is one of the largest I have done (so only 5 in the edition) and approximately A3 in size. The newly rebuilt station has some great perspectives and I wanted to show this here. I tried to capture the light effects by using black and greys but couldn’t resist a touch of yellow to hint at the illuminated “next train” signs. Click here for more details

New content for the Latest Page

I have added 3 new prints to my gallery and featured them in the Latest page. The Droplets woodcut print was an attempt to capture the brightness of light reflected in raindrops on a Horned Poppy leaf with a degree of ambiguity to create a nearly abstract pattern. The two prints based on the memorial brass for the early 16th century Thomas and Dorothy Peckham from the Wrotham St George’s Church floor allowed me to experiment with the difference in wood cut and wood engraving and the use of gold ink as a bass in the wood cut and as the printing ink in the wood engraving. I really liked the economy of line in the original brass design and this is my homage to them. Click here to visit the Latest page for more details

A triptych view from Italy

I have used 3 different colour prints to try to show the changes of colour through the day of the distant view of the upper castle of Marostica from the neighbouring Veneto town of Bassano del Grappa. Each print if from 2 reduction woodblocks with different combinations of inks to represent the hazy early morning appearance, the brighter midday and the deep sunset colours of evening.
